The mercenary guild was formed by a famous mercenary known by the alias of Blackeye. It was created for those who had left the military, whether it had been disbanded, or through less savoury means, to reestablish a role and a job in their life. It went by the principle that each member was a brother, and whether you liked them or not, you were family, and family always cares. It was an elite, and elitist, fighting force, launching raids and getting paid for their skill on the battlefield. At one point, they were so famed through the land that the only people who could afford their services were the mercantile guild, still a major superpower even then. When the mercantile guild realised this they made a proposal. They intended to fully merge the mercenary guild with their own, and have them as the fast response unit. The pay was so great that Blackeye had to agree. It was then on known simply as the merc guild, as that was an abbreviated name of all parties involved. But, as it does, time passed, and Blackeye grew old and died. The age of the merc guild was no more. Until recently, it has had only a handful of members, but, as war's slender finger beckons, the need for it has once more arose.
